We have been around for a little while, but this is our first foray into written content after months of building our business-to-business product, which is aimed at helping teams win games through roster optimization.
With our podcast, the SumerSports Show with Eric Eager and Thomas Dimitroff, 33 episodes in, and our Twitter account up to almost five-and-a-half thousand followers, we felt it was time to dive into long-form, written content that is original, thought-provoking, and insightful. We are fortunate to have some of the best minds in the football space working for Sumer; people with experience working in ESPN Analytics, PFF Research and Development, and Football Outsiders, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins.
What to Expect from SumerSports.com?
As stated above, we strive to produce content that is original, thought-provoking, and insightful. Football analytics has moved the point of view in football substantially over the last decade, but we have a way to go to make it both accessible to as many people as possible and rigorous enough to stand the test of time. We will do so through three different media to start:
Articles
We will provide long-form articles that tackle the game of football from many different angles. New metrics that provide insight into league trends and changes, and an audit on metrics that no longer do. Film breakdowns by former general managers and cap explanations by people who have done the work before. Short muses on topics that do not yet have an answer.
Education
Short videos and write ups on topics like the salary cap, metric building and how-to’s will be a stable of the SumerSports.com experience as we aim to raise the conversation about the game we all love.
Podcasts
The SumerSports Show with Eric Eager and Thomas Dimitroff has turned into a must-listen show at the intersection of traditional approaches to team building and cutting-edge analytical applications. New episodes air twice a week and will be available through this website, as well as your favorite content platforms.
