Hunt rushed 22 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns while corralling both of his targets for five receiving yards in Sunday's 28-18 win over San Francisco.
Analysis
Hunt maintained his status as lead back after churning out 102 rushing yards and a touchdown in his first official start for Kansas City in Week 5. The 29-year-old kept momentum rolling with another standout fantasy performance, this time punching in two scores on 20-plus touches against the 49ers on Sunday. Clyde Edwards-Helaire (reserve/NFI list) was activated earlier in the week to help replace the loss of starter Isiah Pacheco (fibula), but the former did not suit up for Sunday's contest. Hunt is thriving as the starter in Kansas City and does not appear to face any threats to his playing time, making the veteran back an elite fantasy option heading into a soft matchup against the Raiders next Sunday.
Hunt rushed 27 times for 102 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 15 yards in the Chiefs' 26-13 win over the Saints on Monday night.
Analysis
Playing in only his second game of the season -- and as a Chief since 2018 -- Hunt handled a massive workload with aplomb while grinding out tough yardage throughout the night. Hunt's longest run was only eight yards, and his carry total was his highest since Week 16 of his rookie 2017 campaign. Hunt's involvement in the passing game was minimal despite his extensive body of work in that realm and the fact the Chiefs were down yet another pass catcher in Rashee Rice (IR, knee), but his standing as the unquestioned No. 1 back gives him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 7 road matchup against the 49ers following a Week 6 bye.
Hunter does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Saints, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
Meanwhile Clyde Edwards-Helaire (reserve/non-football illness list) is listed as doubtful and likely won't be activated come Monday. As a result, Hunt figures to once again command the most touches among a smorgasbord of available backfield options including Samaje Perine and Carson Steele, although the latter could remain in the doghouse with head coach Andy Reid after fumbling for a second consecutive week.
Hunt (shoulder) remained limited at practice Friday.
Analysis
Hunt also was limited Thursday, so he'll presumably need to practice fully Saturday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Monday night's game against the Saints. In this past Sunday's 17-10 win over the Chargers, Hunt made his season debut and recorded a 45 percent snap share while carrying 14 times for 69 yards and adding two catches (on three targets) for 16 yards. On the heels of that effort, health permitting, he's poised to maintain a key role in Kansas City's Week 5 backfield, which also includes Samaje Perine (five carries last week) and Carson Steele (two carries versus Los Angeles) and may welcome back 2020 first-rounder Clyde Edwards-Helaire from the reserve/non-football illness list.

Hunt (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis
In his season debut with the Chiefs, Hunt logged a 45 percent snap share in the team's Week 4 win over the Chargers en route to carrying 14 times for 69 yards and adding two catches (on three targets) for 16 yards. As Monday night's game against the Saints approaches, Hunt's status now is worth tracking. If he's available versus New Orleans, Hunt figures to maintain a key role in Kansas City's Week 5 backfield, which also includes Samaje Perine and Carson Steele and could welcome back Clyde Edwards-Helaire from the from the reserve/non-football illness list.

Hunt rushed the ball 14 times for 69 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Chargers. He added two receptions on three targets for 16 yards.
Analysis
Carson Steele drew the start in Kansas City's backfield, but Hunt took over after Steele picked up only six yards on two carries and lost a fumble on the team's first three offensive possessions. Meanwhile, Hunt went on to clearly lead the team's backfield -- Steele and Samaje Perine logged only three and five touches, respectively -- while also displaying decent efficiency. The only downside to Hunt's potential role as the Chiefs' lead back is that he was subbed out for a goal-line carry in favor of Perine midway through the fourth quarter.
Head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that Hunt will rotate in with the Chiefs' other running backs during Sunday's game against the Chargers, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Reid added that the team has three reliable healthy running backs in Carson Steele, Samaje Perine and Hunt, so all three are expected to play a role against the Chargers. Steele remains the favorite to handle the majority of reps on early downs after racking up 17 rushing attempts in Isiah Pacheco's (fibula) absence against the Falcons last Sunday. Hunt was added to the 53-man roster Tuesday after joining Kansas City's practice squad last week.
Kansas City signed Hunt off its practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis
The team waived Keaontay Ingram to open up a spot on the roster for Hunt, who joins Carson Steele and Samaje Perine as options at running back while Isiah Pacheco (fibula) resides on injured reserve. In Kansas City's first game without Pacheco on Sunday, Steele led the way with 46 snaps on offense and 18 touches (17 carries for 72 yards, one reception for two yards), while Perine played 26 snaps and logged nine touches (six carries for 25 yards, three receptions for 15 yards). Given those performances, Hunt may not immediately jump ahead of either player in the backfield pecking order Sunday against the Chargers, but he'll at least represent a more viable threat for playing time than Ingram.
Hunt won't be elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday night's game against the Falcons, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis
With Isiah Pacheco (leg) on IR and slated to miss at least four games, Hunt is destined to claim a role in the Chiefs backfield once he's had more practice time with the team. For now, however, Carson Steele, Samaje Perine and Keaontay Ingram are available to handle the team's RB duties.
