The Rams are assured at least the No. 4 seed in the NFC playoffs and can clinch the No. 3 seed with a win over Seattle, but McVay suggested that the team's main priority in Week 18 will be avoiding injuries to top contributors heading into the postseason. Though McVay didn't explicitly say that Williams will be held out Sunday, the coach's comments about Corum and Schrader imply that Williams will see only light snaps, if he's not a healthy inactive for the contest. With 316 carries and 34 receptions through 16 games, Williams' touch count this season ranks second to only Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley (345 carries, 33 catches) among all running backs, so it makes sense for the Rams to build in some maintenance for the 24-year-old ahead of the playoffs. Expect Williams to reclaim his normal three-down workhorse role during the Rams' wild-card game.

The Rams had a tough offensive night and ran only 54 plays while possessing the ball for just 23:05. That left Williams with unusually low volume, as his 13 carries were his fewest since Week 2. Nevertheless, he turned in an efficient performance, highlighted by his 16th touchdown of the season, which came on a one-yard plunge into the end zone late in the second quarter. He's now scored in five of his last six games. More will be revealed about Los Angeles' playoff status after Sunday's games, news that could dictate whether Williams sees a heavy workload in a potentially pivotal divisional Week 18 matchup against the Seahawks.

Williams powered in his 15th total touchdown of the season on a two-yard run in the second quarter, matching his touchdown total from last season. He provided the majority of the Rams' offensive production as Matthew Stafford threw for only 110 yards in frigid conditions at MetLife Stadium. Williams has surpassed 100 rushing yards in three of his last four games after reaching that threshold only once through Week 12. The star running back will look to continue his late-season surge against the Cardinals in Week 17.

Analysis

Williams accomplished the unlikely feat of recording 29 rush attempts for the second time in a four-day span, a testament to his ability to handle a true workhorse role while remaining productive. The third-year pro posted a new season-high single-game rushing yardage total in the process, as well as his third 100-yard effort of the campaign. Williams now will have some much-needed extra down time ahead of a Week 16 road battle against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 22.

Analysis

Williams saw a season-high 29 rushing attempts, his first time topping 20 carries since Week 9. He wasn't very efficient, as he averaged only 3.0 yards per carry with his longest run going for 12 yards. However, volume was enough to carry Williams' fantasy performance, and he also supplemented his yardage with three- and seven-yard rushing scores. He now has a touchdown in three straight contests and has at least 80 rushing yards in three of his last four games.

Analysis

Williams surpassed his previous best of 102 rushing yards against Green Bay in Week 5 in addition to scoring his 10th rushing touchdown of the season. The 2022 fifth-round gem accomplished these feats on just 15 carries, also setting a new high-water mark for yards per carry (6.9). Williams should continue to thrive as the Rams' lead tailback as the team prepares to host Buffalo next Sunday.

Analysis

Williams was outclassed by opposing running back Saquon Barkley (302 total yards and two scores), but the former still provided a decent fantasy score for managers Sunday. The Rams' starter commanded 16 of 17 backfield rushing attempts in the loss, tightening his grip on an every-down role as we inch towards the end of the regular season. Williams put two balls on the ground but lost possession of only one, resulting in his third lost fumble on the year. Expect the 23-year-old to see his usual minimum of 15-to-20 carries when the Rams visit the Saints next Sunday.

Analysis

For the third straight game, Williams was held out of the end zone, and he failed to record a catch for the second time this season. Despite the lack of scoring, Williams actually logged his highest YPC of the 2024 campaign (5.7) and backup Blake Corum continued to have a limited role on offense.
